ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (LONG-TERM SUB), Wayland High School
The assistant principal will support the administrative team in fostering a school culture that reflects our High School Mission Statement. The assistant principal will work with the leadership teams in the planning, development, execution and supervision of a comprehensive learning program that challenges and supports all students.
- Love of working with high schoolers required;
- Master's degree from an accredited institution required;
- Massachusetts certification in secondary administration, or credentials to satisfy certification requirements, required;
- At least three years' experience as a classroom teacher at the secondary school level required;
- Experience in an administrative position such as a high school assistant principalship, department head, team leader, or a position of comparable authority, preferred;
- Experience with diverse populations and commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity and inclusion;
- Knowledge of and experience in working with technology, especially database applications;
- Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills - comfortable working with staff, parents, and students alike;
- Possess those personal characteristics necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position, including the ability to work well under pressure;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Wayland Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
Principal
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents and community members;
- Provide instructional leadership and encourage professional growth through the development of staff meetings and inservice programs;
- Supervise student attendance and work with families to improve student attendance where indicated;
- Uphold codes of conduct and administer student discipline using best practices in behavioral interventions and support;
- Assist with student supervision in and around school grounds;
- Assist in maintaining the physical plant with regard to safety, health, and well-being of students and staff;
- Assist with conducting evacuation and lockdown drills;
- Supervise athletic, social, and educational activities of the school when needed;
- Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or his designee.
