Band and General Music Teacher (LONG-TERM SUB), Wayland Middle School
The band and general music teacher will instruct grade 6, 7 and 8 band as well as general music classes. Afterschool ensembles include 2 jazz bands and wind ensemble.
- Love of working with middle schoolers required;
- Undergraduate degree;
- Experience working with music ensembles and middle school students;
- Experience with diverse populations and commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity and inclusion;
- Knowledge of and experience in working with technology, especially the Google suite;
- Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills - comfortable working with staff, parents, and students alike;
- Possess those personal characteristics necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position, including the ability to work well under pressure;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Wayland Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
Principal
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents and community members;
- Instruct curricular and extracurricular courses and ensembles. Prepare studetns for and conduct performances;
- Maintain student attendance records and gradebook;
- Perform non-teacing duties assigned;
- Uphold codes of conduct and administer student discipline using best practices in behavioral interventions and support;
- Assist with student supervision in and around school grounds;
- Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or his designee.
