Your Role
In this critical role, you will play a key part in ensuring the Waymo Driver meets its full potential. As a Data Scientist, your primary responsibilities include:
- Developing evaluation frameworks for autonomous vehicle performance and simulation quality
- Creating new metrics, interpreting trends, and investigating anomalies in AV data
- Designing novel statistical methods to handle unique aspects of AV data
- Framing and solving ambiguous problems through technical innovation
- Deriving data-driven conclusions and communicating findings to senior stakeholders
Requirements
To succeed in this position, you'll need:
- A degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Physics)
- 5 years of industry experience in data science or a PhD in a quantitative field with 3 years of experience
- Expertise in advanced statistical methods and familiarity with machine learning systems/models
- Demonstrated knowledge of Python/SQL/R data analysis libraries and packages
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
We're looking for candidates with:
- PhD in a quantitative field
- A proven track record of independently driving data science projects to deliver business value
- Experience in Autonomous Driving or Ride Hailing
