Waymo's Supply Chain teams are making the technology of the future a reality. We handle supplier selection, qualification and development strategies from contracts and purchasing, to selecting/qualifying key EE components, through quality control and delivery. We collaborate actively with Waymo Engineering teams as well as external EE component Manufacturers and partners to ensure the EE components function as designed into our sensors and are delivered on time, at the right cost to meet the rising demands of our business.
You will report to a Global Supply Manager and be based out of Mountain View, CA.
You will:
- Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers.
- Drive price negotiations processes and \ cost reduction programs to ensure pricing is best in class to meet our growing needs. Bring a total cost ownership approach, and develop should-cost models for PCBs, processors, ASICs such as PMICs, and other custom components.
- Develop/refine contracts and SOWs with the EE/PCB manufacturers, to ensure Waymo's needs are met, including cost, quality, IP protection and functional requirements. Onboard new suppliers and close contracts with vendors.
- Develop spend strategies, identify potential suppliers, analyze supplier capabilities, select suppliers and determine prices, terms, and conditions of agreements.
- Proactively and effectively manage the long/mid/short term forecast, capacity, and supply. Keep track of the supplier capacity, and lead the resolution of problems when applicable. Drive schedule, capacity and supply planning to meet Waymo's development and production demands, focusing on EE components, PCBs. Communicate key supply, cost, and/or quality issues with management teams. Develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks.
- Have the ability to understand technical datasheets and specifications as well as knowledge of manufacturing process controls and quality assurance for their commodity space. Proactively resolve EE component supply constraints by working with the Component Engineer in recommending alternative components, \
- Set up and expand relationships with end-to-end semiconductor suppliers including sensor EEs, PCBs and System Logic EEs.
- Hold regular business reviews with EE Manufacturers to align strategies, tech roadmaps, and review and drive supplier performance improvements. Support supplier audits including process, capacity, and compliance audits. Conduct the industry/market research to monitor the industry trends and impact on the team.
You have:
- 8 years of experience in EE commodity management.
- Bachelor's degree in EE Engineering and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time including International travel
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and analytical skills are required.
- Proficient with excel or Google sheets.
- Problem solving skills collaborating with cross-functional teams (Engineering, quality, manufacturing)
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including international travel
We prefer:
- Prior work experience at Apple, Google, Meta, Amazon or Tesla as an EE GSM
- Masters in Electrical Engineering degree is a plus
- Asia supplier experience

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
Salary : $180,000 - $227,000
