SUMMARY:
Wayne Art Center’s popular and much-loved Summer Art Camp is celebrating 41 years serving the Mainline and surrounding communities. Well known for quality of instruction, Wayne Art Center teachers are acclaimed for their ability to design well-crafted lesson plans that are infused with artmaking as well as art historical reference through 11 distinct weekly themes. The Summer Art Camp experience inspires curiosity, confidence, problem solving and creativity for campers, ages 4-17 over eleven weeks within a nurturing studio setting.
Wayne Art Center is seeking experienced culinary instructors to teach food nutrition and culinary art skills in their state-of-the-art commercial kitchen. Accepting applications now for positions in the Summer Art Camp 2025 Program.
GENERAL CAMP INFO.:
Aritsts in the Making: June 9th – August 22nd, 2025. Wayne Art Center offers 11 individually themed, 1-week sessions, Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 5:00pm. Studios are open for teachers to set-up/ clean-up from 8:30am – 5:30pm.
- Morning Art Classes (9:30am – 12:00pm)
- Afternoon Art Classes (12:30pm – 3:00pm)
- Late Afternoon Art Classes (3:30pm – 5:00pm)
The full and half-day camp structure provides enormous flexibility to art educators. Teachers can commit to one morning/afternoon class or 11 full-day weeks, whatever works for their summer-time schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/professional training and experience in culinary arts or related area a must.
- Experience working with children ages 8 years and above, prior camp experience (preferred).
- Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills: ability to supervise and communicate appropriately with campers, volunteers, parents, and caregivers.
- Punctuality and ability to prep classes in a timely and efficient manner.
- General knowledge of nutrition, various cooking techniques, cultures, and disciplines.
- Ability to teach children of all ages and backgrounds.
- Provide current child abuse clearances, fingerprint & background checks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research, develop and provide lesson plans related to each weekly theme that include elements of specific locations, historical culinary references, plate aesthetics, culinary objectives, and list of ingredients used. Provide lesson plans 2 weeks prior to each teaching assignment.
- Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and ability to supervise students and volunteers.
- Respond to emails and/ or calls in a timely manner.
- Maintain positive interactions with parents about their camper’s achievements and struggles.
- Be dependable, enthusiastic, and have a positive attitude.
- Responsible for set-up and clean-up daily.
Culinary Chef Teachers (Ages: 8-17)
Instruct weekly themed culinary classes, ensuring safety in the kitchen at all times.
Execute approved menus and recipes for camp each day, guaranteeing that all cooked and baked recipes are completed on time.
Educational/professional training and experience in culinary arts or related area a must.
ServSafe Certification or the ability to complete the certification 2 weeks prior to camp start date.
