What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Real Property Tax Service Aid position at Wayne Count Information Technology Department?
This is moderately difficult work involving processing of real property tax data lists and files. The work requires an understanding of specific tax assessment procedures. Attention to detail is a MUST. The incumbent can expect to attend appropriate training courses. Duties include direct interaction with the municipal assessors, municipal supervisors and other County departments, as necessary. Working knowledge of principles and practices of real property assessment; working knowledge of business arithmetic and English; ability to acquire working knowledge of property assessment methods; ability to learn to read and understand property deeds, maps, and legal documents relating to real property valuations; ability to explain basic concepts of the V4 system to town assessors; working knowledge of complex Excel worksheets, including but not limited to the creation of complex, linked worksheets. Helps in the preparation of tentative and final assessment rolls, tax rolls and tax bills. Assures timely filling of assessor's reports and files, corrects errors in assessment and/or tax rolls and resolves problems. Applicants must have high school diploma or equivalent, one year real property assessment and/or real estate experience or an equivalent combination or training and experience.
