Purpose / Description
The Engineer -Journey Level 1 will assist the higher-level Engineer. This position can be assigned to one of the multiple offices within the Engineering Division and perform engineering duties in Planning, Design, Permits, Testing, Bridges, Traffic, and Construction / Survey overseeing construction of roads, bridges, pumphouses and stormwater systems. The Engineer - Journey Level 1, under the general direction of a higher-level Engineer will independently perform various complex assignments related to the Design, Permits, Planning, Traffic, Testing, Bridges and Construction inspection of the Engineering Division projects and activities. May be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of lower-level Engineers, technicians and other employees. All classifications within Engineering creates a pathway to advance, promote, transfer or change career path. A Journey Level Engineer I will be eligible to be reclassified to an Engineer -Journey Level 2 upon obtaining their PE.
- Required Tasks
Spatially visualize in three dimensions the proposed design plans to ensure constructability and avoid construction conflicts, such as underground storm sewers and utility lines
Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Construction Engineering or Surveying from an accredited college or university, AND
