DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES
perform a variety of journeyman painting work such as preparing surfaces, mixing and matching paints and stains, painting interiors and exteriors, application and knowledge of floor epoxy coatings and other related duties in the Roads Maintenance Division Building Maintenance section.
Required Tasks
- Painting, prepping, repairing interior and exterior surfaces with various implements.
- Knowledge of paint applications and products.
- Knowledge and use of preparatory supplies and equipment - puttying wooden surfaces, preparing metal and wooden surfaces for painting or staining with a brush or paint gun, washing, scraping, burning and sandpapering surfaces.
- Mix and match paint and stains.
- Painting wooden and metal surfaces with spray gun and brush.
- Drywall mudding and taping.
- Maintenance of equipment.
- Erecting and working from scaffolding - working at heights.
- Proper use of floor epoxy.
- Operating airless prayers, self-contained paint machines and other related equipment.
- Maintain valid state of Michigan driver's license.
- Washing, scraping, burning, sandpapering surfaces for paint preparation.
- Puttying small defects in woodwork.
- Keep a neat and clean work area.
- Refinish furniture.
- Replace broken glass in windows.
- Work under supervision of a Foreperson or Supervisor who makes work assignments and checks working process upon completion.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED; AND
