JOB SUMMARY:
Wayne County is hiring Fiscal Analyst 1 in the Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds Office. This person will track, compile, analyze and review records and accounting data; prepare and maintain financial records and reports. The individual assists with opening decedent’s estate establishing the estate file with required legal documentation for proper administration. Records and indexes real estate documents into case management software system. Assists the general public, legal community, and the private sector with locating land records and real estate documents. This office is a dual responsibility office requiring knowledge of both offices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reconcile cash drawer and verify daily receipts report; corrects work if any issues arise;
· Track and confirm daily credit card transactions; e-filing transactions; and redeterminations;
· Prepare and balance daily summary, monthly and annual accumulative reports of all revenues and disbursements;
· Participate in preparation of budget request, assess budget needs and develop budget narratives;
· Maintain copy charge accounts; track and confirm monthly account balances.
· Process the filing of inheritance tax returns and estate documents; entry into case management software system; calculate and receipt fees, tax, interest and penalties;
· Record real estate documents into case management software system; calculate and receipt fees, tax, and interest;
· Confirms all tax stamps for accuracy;
· Track, compile, analyze and prepare accounting data records of realty transfer tax to State, school districts, and local municipalities;
· Compile accounting data and records for confirmation of school districts and municipalities independent audits;
· Answer telephone calls and handles inquiries requesting information;
· Assists attorneys and the general public with questions regarding Estate procedures & Recorder processes, copy requests;
· Backup to Fiscal Technician;
· Performs other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Three years of work experience of accounting principles and practices, and high school diploma or equivalent; or Associates degree in accounting or business administration with one year experience maintaining and reviewing fiscal records; or any equivalent combination of training/education and experience.
2. Knowledge of specific Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds software;
3. Knowledge of Microsoft office suite programs;
4. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality and good customer service;
5. Criminal history background clearance;
6. Pre-employment drug screen test.
