DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing consumer mobility by delivering professional and accessible transportation services that prioritize safety, reliability, comfort, and courtesy. You will be responsible for operating a county vehicle, typically covering an average of 150 miles each day. This position not only offers the chance to provide essential transportation services but also fosters social interaction with our clients, which include senior adults and individuals who rely on wheelchairs. You will have the opportunity to work independently, requiring excellent communication skills for effective interactions both face-to-face and through two-way radio. A willingness to assist consumers, particularly senior adults and those in wheelchairs, is essential, especially when navigating rough pavements or unpaved paths. Flexibility in adjusting to daily schedules is important, as is a personable demeanor, as you will be providing vital assistance and companionship throughout the day.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Part-time employment, 14 to 21 hours per week.
- Work hours vary between 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Limited hours on Saturday.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
Condition of Employment:
- No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne Counties. If no eligible candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne Counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
