NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST (FULL TIME)

I. Job Summary

Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols for nuclear medicine. Functions as the first line interface with the patient in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.

They are responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of nuclear medicine.

II. Duties And Responsibilities

Preparing, administering, and measuring of radioactive isotopes in diagnostic and tracer studies. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care of all age groups. Performs and assists within nuclear medicine studies. Responsible for patient safety techniques and policies in the use and disposal of radioactive materials. Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors. Calibrates equipment.

  • Communicate effectively with wide variety of individuals
  • Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Complete annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements for Radiology Technician.
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
  • Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties; maintains PAR levels.
  • Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Attends annual Hospital Review and department in services, as scheduled.
  • Attends staff meetings, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Maintains Wayne Memorial Hospital requirements, policies and standards of confidentiality.
  • Actively participates in department1s CQI activities.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of Wayne Memorial Hospital
  • CPR
  • Provide training and guidance for the orientation of new staff and students
  • monitors, administers, stocks and calculates radiopharmaceuticals medicine of patient and personnel
  • Develops protocols
  • Follow radiation safety techniques for the radioactive materials
  • Ensures and maintains radioactive materials are stored properly also the equipment
  • Helps chief nm tech carry on the continuous analysis, evaluation and audit of NM Department
  • Takes call when necessary

III. Qualifications And Experience

ARRT certification or NMTCB

CPR

IV. Physical Demands

For physical demands of position including vision, hearing, repetitive motion, and environment. Walking, bending twisting, and lifting.
