Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled General Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses in pediatric patients. You will work both independently and as part of a healthcare team to provide comprehensive care. The successful candidate will also educate and counsel families on treatment plans and health promotion, ensuring the well-being of our young patients.
Essential Job Functions:
- Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses
- Diagnose, treat, and educate patients and families regarding acute or chronic conditions
- Recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with consideration to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy
- Prescribe medications based on safety, efficacy, and cost within the scope of legal authorization
- Counsel patients and families about prescribed medications, potential side effects, and adherence
- Order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as CBCs, EKGs, and radiographs
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date patient records, including healthcare plans and prognoses
- Recommend behavioral interventions to reduce health risks and promote wellness
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans in alignment with professional practice guidelines and standards of care
- Consult with or refer patients to specialists when conditions fall outside the scope of practice or expertise
- Diagnose and manage complex or emergent conditions in collaboration with other healthcare providers as needed
- Schedule follow-up visits to monitor progress, evaluate ongoing care, or adjust treatment plans
- Perform routine physical exams, including wellness check-ups and screenings
- Supervise or collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care
- Stay current with state regulations regarding nurse practitioner practice
- Assist patients and families in accessing healthcare resources, reducing risk factors, or preventing disease
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, including safety and infection control protocols
- Perform primary care procedures, such as suturing, splinting, immunizations, and wound care
- Stay informed about regulatory changes and insurance systems, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers
- Regular and routine onsite attendance
Educational Requirements:
- Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) (Required)
Experience Requirements:
- 2-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner (Required)
- 1 year of experience in pediatrics (Preferred)
Licensure & Certification Requirements:
- Valid Nursing License - State of Michigan (Required)
- Nurse Practitioner Certification (AANP) (Required)
- Pediatric Nurse Certification Board (PNCB) (Required)
Knowledge Requirements:
- Knowledge of pediatric diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation practices
- Understanding of human behavior, mental health, and affective disorders in pediatric patients
- Expertise in managing patient needs and ensuring quality service delivery
- Proficiency in EMR systems
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Arabic (Preferred)
