What are the responsibilities and job description for the SHINE After-school Teacher position at Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance?
Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance is looking to hire Certified Teachers for our SHINE After-school Centers located in the Wallenpaupack School Districts. This is a 36-week comprehensive after-school program and includes grades K to 8th.
Job purpose
To enhance the SHINE after-school program by supporting the SHINE After-school team, and assisting with curriculum development and student management.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for daily instruction Monday thru Thursday at the center for 3 hours after the regular school day.
- Dedicated to helping at-risk children improve academic performance and attendance at school.
- Attend program special events (scheduled outside school hours).
- Provide hands-on constructiveness instructional activities with a focus on STEAM.
- Implement a research-based curriculum coordinated with the child’s academic day program.
- Integrate homework tutoring, character, and relationship-building, cultural, recreational, environmental, and service-learning activities.
- Create a strong line of communication between home and school.
- Maintain daily records for academic achievement, attendance and behavior.
- Responsible for doing pre-testing and post-testing on all children entering the program.
- Develop Instructional Plans.
- Attend monthly Professional Development training.
- All other duties as assigned.
All of the above, plus ensures room readiness, clean-up, and responsibility for SHINE property and materials. Ensures all records/files are up-to-date. Serves as liaison between center and schools, including day teachers; responsible for general on-site management. Network with other SHINE teachers to share common lesson themes, community resources, and dynamic programs and speakers.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- All candidates must be creative, highly motivated toward student’s success, and focused on project-based learning. Strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication, and computer skills are required. Staff must have reliable transportation and child abuse clearances.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand to sit, to walk, use hands, to handle or feel: reach with hands arms: talk and hear. The employee may regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
