Wayne's Automotive is seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing routine maintenance, and completing complex repairs to ensure the safety and reliability of our fleet. The ideal candidate has experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment, as well as strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Compensation:$25 - $35 hourly
Responsibilities:- Remedy mechanical problems and malfunction codes that are identified in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems
- Inspect, test drive, and perform diagnostic tests to determine vehicle problems, parts needed for repairs, and necessary work
- Preparing estimates, timelines, and other necessary documents for auto repairs
- Encourage and facilitate preventive maintenance work such as oil changes, air conditioning service, flushing, brake replacement, tire rotation, and more
- Work with auto mechanic team members to determine vehicle problems and solutions
Performing PMs and diagnostic repairs on mixed company fleet vehicles. Including light-duty trucks heavy-duty trucks and diesel as well. We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude to work on all equipment and vehicles. Must be experienced.
- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain, and upgrade
- Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
- High school diploma or GED equivalent necessary
- Must be an effective communicator who maintains a solid work ethic
- Associate’s degree from a vocational program, technical school, or community college is preferred - ASE certification is a big bonus
- Valid driver’s license needed
- Strong manual dexterity and proficiency with hand tools and other repair shop equipment is necessary
Skills
- Proven experience as a truck mechanic
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc
- A high school diploma is preferred
