Cashier
This position in for night shift.
Reports to: Customer Service Manager, Store Manager or Night Manager
Department: Grocery/Service
Position Summary: This position is responsible for operating a cash register and checkout stand efficiently and courteously; conform with front end procedures and company policies that will ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Scans or rings grocery orders accurately and efficiently.
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit/debit cards, SNAP, EWIC or charges.
- Ensure customers’ groceries are fresh and sealed properly.
- Memorizes and utilizes PLU codes accurately.
- Always assure the security of cash drawer.
- Follow all voided sales procedures and policies while informing customers what you are doing.
- Enforce security policies including company shoplifting policy, associate purchase policy and bottom of the basket policy.
- Keeps current on weekly ad and advertised specials.
- Counts cash drawer prior to and following shift changes.
- Makes cash drops as needed and ensures they are put into safe.
- Knowledge of WIC and SNAP programs.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Display a positive attitude and greet all customers kindly.
- Be observant of your surroundings and report all safety risks or issues and any illegal activity including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Promote trust and respect among your co-workers.
- Notify Management of any customer or employee accidents.
Supplemental Job Functions:
- Checks in and stocks merchandise accurately from truck delivery.
- Occasionally assisting the service counter accurately by being able to perform additional services such as lottery, gift card activations, and DNR or motor vehicle licenses.
- Assist in stocking merchandise.
- Assist in general housekeeping in and around work areas including, but not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, washing windows, facing merchandise, grabbing carts, bagging, and cleaning bathrooms.
