Position Summary : This position directs and manages all phases of store operation in a manner designed to obtain maximum sales and gross profits through effective utilization of personnel and resources available.
This job requires a background in retail grocery management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Increase sales and profits through utilization of methods as outlined in profit plan.
- Plan, organize, direct, and control store activities with assistance of department managers.
- Assures that all store personnel are courteous to customers and that requests / complaints are handled promptly and courteously.
- Ultimate responsibility for all cash accountability and balancing procedures.
- Responsible for maximum utilization of store personnel through effective scheduling, counseling, and evaluating programs, training programs, motivation, and supervision.
- Responsible for efficient and effective delegation of duties to achieve maximum performance and follow-up to assure proper performance.
- Acts as company representative both within the store and the community.
- Responsible for staying within the store operating budget (payroll, inventory, etc.).
- Maintains a housekeeping program which ensures an orderly, clean store that is pleasing to the customer’s eye.
- Responsible for maintenance of prompt and accurate check-out service through proper supervision of front-end personnel and cashier accuracy.
- Maintains efficient and knowledgeable method of operation through regular department manager meetings.
- Maintains building and equipment in maximum operational condition.
- Responsible for optimum freshness of merchandise and merchandising to achieve maximum sales and profits.
- Implements and maintains effective fire, safety, and security standards within the store.
- Responsible for total payroll, overtime, dollars spent, and must communicate with all employees on a timely basis.
- Unload grocery truck and stock shelves.
- Participate in local and regional civic affairs that are good for the community.
- Schedule vacations, holidays, time-off, etc.
- Check competitors Ads.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Display a positive attitude.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity including robbery, theft, or fraud.
