PRIMARY FUNCTION : The Lead Project Engineer is in charge of overseeing capital projects while effectively managing and monitoring all elements of each project. This role involves planning, designing, budgeting, and working closely with contractors and vendors to ensure the successful execution of assigned capital projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS :
- Reports directly to the Director of Engineering.
- Regularly update the Director of Engineering on project status, including opportunities for improvement, budget updates, and potential problems that may impact cost or schedule.
- Provide strong project leadership focused on achieving excellence in safety, cost control, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, and team collaboration.
- Demonstrate proficiency in estimating and establishing project budgets, along with job cost tracking and closeout procedures.
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and manage various engineering projects that involve multiple engineering disciplines.
- Act as the project manager for both planned and unplanned tasks, including scope development, detailed design, budget formulation, contractor selection, and oversight of project execution.
- Develop comprehensive scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for multiple capital projects simultaneously.
- Identify and predict resources necessary to meet objectives while managing them efficiently.
- Conduct thorough cost analyses and provide expected cost estimates for projects.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and industry regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Engage with internal clients daily to understand their needs and represent them effectively in project execution.
- Build robust working relationships with coworkers, facility managers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Make regular onsite visits to coordinate with contractors throughout project development and implementation.
- Promptly inform the Project Team and contractors about any construction schedule changes, collaborating closely with all relevant stakeholders to meet project requirements.
- Utilize approved Consulting Engineers for certified drawings and technical specifications.
- Identify and create engineering plans that promote sustainability.
