PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Retail Sales Support Specialist contacts customers, schedules visits to assigned customer retail locations for product evaluation, display set-up, etc. and makes decision which significantly affect the location’s overall product sales. This role acts as a liaison between customer and company, completes required paperwork, and handles complaints.

- Visit customer retail locations (up to 80% travel) checking stock, meat case/ product placement, sell by dates, point of sale display appearance, point of purchase material; evaluate product for appearance, quality, etc. and decide product placement or replacement and suggest higher visibility for targeted items to significantly increase overall sales/ profit
- Check stock prior to unloading at customer location, determine if product is damaged and should be returned to distribution center or shipped
- Gather and feedback from customer location on product, packaging, displays, etc., and report back to appropriate personnel (e.g. complex, quality, sales, etc.)
- Act as liaison with customer by gathering data on order issues, complaints, needs, and potential product matches; record incident and escalate to manager, complex and/ or quality personnel as needed
- Gather and compile required information for required reports (e.g. daily field report, condensed store reports, warehouse receiving, expense, etc.); file as required in a timely manner
- Provide advice to retail customer managers regarding how to correct problems with product
- Assist customer with product demonstrations, advertising/packaging needs, grand openings, etc. ensuring company product meets specifications
- Work food shows, special promotions, sales presentations and training as needed to assist Sales team with presenting company products to current and new customers
- Arrange sales meeting and product demonstrations for customers, brokers, etc. as directed
- Check customer distribution warehouse to verify date and temperature for available product, check in loads, verify trucks for product temperature, date, damage, restacking as needed, to ensure product is stored in accordance to guidelines
- Wear personal protective equipment in areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culture
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

- Bachelors’ degree in Business, Sales/ Marketing or other related field
- A combination of experience and education may be substituted for four year degree
- Valid driver’s license with safe driving record
- Minimum two (2) years applicable sales experience in a similar environment
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all internal levels of the organization and external customers in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred
- Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner while ensuring confidential information is relayed only on a need-to-know basis
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily work, planning skills, and a high attention to detail
- Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
- Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
- Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
- Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend and/or extended) as business need requires
- Ability to work in cold/ humid as needed
- Able to frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs.
