Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant Camp Coordinator - C2 Pipeline - College of Nursing at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Provide leadership and guidance to Camp Counselors. Work closely with Camp Coordinator, Camp Counselors and support staff to ensure continuity of academic and residential programming.
Participate in staff development activities by attending meetings, sharing relevant information about students and asking for help as needed. Meet frequently with Camp Counselors and the Camp Coordinator to review daily schedules, debriefs and other daily occurrences.
Supervise up to 120 high school students over a nine-day period. Serve as a role-model to students displaying responsible behavior and personal integrity. Communicate program rules to students ensuring safety and responsible student behavior. Implement experience-based lesson plans and workshops addressing social issues relevant to the lives of C2 Pipeline students.
Review and implement participant behavior support system, manage write-ups and interventions.
Maintain a professional relationship with all student participants and staff while upholding clear staff-student boundaries at all times.
Provide administrative and logistical support as needed (e.g. reserve classroom space, secure adequate supplies, communicate with transportation companies).
Participate in day and night activities; including meals, field trips and community service projects.
Work with Camp Coordinator and Central Office Staff to edit/revise parts of the Warriors College Experience Staff and Family Handbooks.
Build and maintain a positive relationship with all C2 Pipeline, and partnering organization stakeholders, e.g., visiting donors, site staff, parents, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Bachelor’s degree required, in a STEM field, Social Sciences or Education preferred. Experience: Entry level (no prior job-related work experience)
Experience teaching and/or facilitating programs for high school age youth preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated effectiveness working with students from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds. Ability to form positive and professional relationships with ethnically and culturally diverse youth and staff. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Ability to execute and issue tasks promptly and efficiently. Ability to give and receiveconstructive feedback. Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and strong decision-making skills. Willingness to be an active problem solver as unexpected challenges arise. Demonstrated ethical and moral character. Knowledge of or willingness to learn and utilize operational tools and processes. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
