Research Assistant, Phoenix

Position Purpose:
Under the direction of Translational Sciences and Clinical Research Innovation and the Population Health Outcomes Information Exchange (PHOENIX) Principal Investigator, this position will be responsible for managing research data, reporting, and project timelines.
Essential Functions:
Collaborates with leadership to support research data management by identifying, ingesting, transforming, and merging research data using advanced tools and software, including data visualization techniques and the Google Cloud Platform.
Coordinate PHOENIX volunteers. Submit new and maintain existing Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications to ensure compliance with identity management and data access protocols. Responsibilities include collecting necessary information for identity management, submitting updates on key personnel and data to the IRB annually, and managing responses to IRB inquiries.
Complete cross-training on how to load new Research data metrics to Wayne State’s PHOENIX program Prevalence Profiler web application by testing new or revised research standard operating procedures.
Work with leadership on the creation of learning-lab materials to help end-users access research data and to use existing virtual infrastructure.
Assist Investigators and/or end-users in leveraging Wayne State’s PHOENIX Prevalence Profiler database.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Unique Duties:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Public Health, Information technology, or computer science is preferred.
Experience: Entry level (less than a year of job-related experience).
Experience working with clinical research programs and computer technology are desired but not required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Strong time management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines are required.
Knowledgeable about Research database approaches to identify management and access privileges.
Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex information to diverse/lay audiences.
Basic proficiency using statistical software packages to conduct descriptive analyses (e.g., R (statistical computing and graphics software package), SAS (Statistical Analysis Software), and STATA.
Willingness and ability to learn new skills working in the Google Cloud Platform.
