Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification) : Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work or related field and five (5) years of Juvenile Probation management experience and a minimum of 5 years of Juvenile Probation experience.Must possess auto liability insurance.Must be age 21 or older.Must pass extensive background screening process.Preferred Qualifications : Master's Degree and more than 6 years of work related experience preferred.Special Working Conditions and / or Hazards : Employees work indoors and are protected from weather conditions or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.Job Duties : Facilitates the daily operation of the Probation Department through the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Probation Officers and through the design and implementation of change within the Department.Facilitates regular meetings with the management team as a group and individually in order to facilitate the operation of the Department.Disseminates and receives information from the Deputy Chief Probation Officers that is both routine and non-routine in nature.Participates in the planning, resource allocation and development of Department functions, projects, programming, mission and formulation of contracts in conjunction with the Chief Magistrate.Responsible for Division budget, including authorization of division expenditures; participates in strategic planning of division budget with Chief Magistrate, Court Administrator and Chief Financial Officer.Provides final oversight of protocols, processes and financial responsibilities specific to Reclaim and IV-E programs.Continually monitors the management information system in order to assess and report Department outputs and outcomes.Conducts formal and informal performance appraisals, develops goals to aid in the achievement of the Department's mission and the professional development of direct reports and the department's staff.Participates in the interview and selection process of candidates for Probation Department positions.Participates with other community organizations on projects, negotiating roles to make sure the Probation Department and Court's interests are adequately represented.Facilitates monthly department meetings for the purpose of keeping staff updated on information and events within the Department and Court and providing a forum for staff to address concerns.All other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, providing customer service support and / or direct care monitoring of youth in various court departments and buildings on a temporary, as-needed and / or rotation basis.Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.Summary of KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES required for the position : Must possess analytical skills / abilities, which include : Ability to assess a situation, provide multiple perspectives, and gather further information / perspectives if necessary to arrive at an appropriate response.Ability to assess information from management information system for use in reporting outcomes as well as planning for the Department.Ability to assess processes in place and modify them as needed to increase efficiency.Must possess clerical / administrative skills / abilities, which include : Ability to operate office equipment, strong organizational and prioritizing skills.Must possess computer / technical skills / abilities, which include : Knowledge of basic computer software such as Microsoft Office and GroupWise.Ability to use a computer and operate Court's information management system to access reports and input data.Must possess project / process management skills / abilities, which include : Ability to lead / facilitate assigned projects within required timelines, including delegating when appropriate, keeping processes moving and ensuring participants are motivated.Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Must possess written and oral communication skills / abilities, which include : Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences in a professional manner, showing respect for the audience and appropriately representing the Court's interests.#J-18808-Ljbffr
