CONDENSED JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION : Payee Clerk
RATE OF PAY : $20.00
20.50 / hour bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish or English and Burmese)
SUMMARY
Wayne Township Payee Clerk works directly under the Payee Department Director. Payee Clerk administer and processes client income and allowance as needed for Township Assistance. Payee Clerks are responsible for assisting clients with Wayne Township process for gaining needed resources. Payee Clerk duties include acknowledging and processing clients' requests for assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS :
B.A / B.S. or A.A.S. in Accounting, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience is acceptable.
Ability to operate general office equipment. Excellent skills in using adding machine / calculator. Ability to use basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division - including prorating) in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages. Experience in creating and using electronic spreadsheet programs. Excellent ability to create formulas when using spreadsheets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational / time management skills.
Excellent interviewing skills.
Ability to work well under pressure, and with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of the operation, policies, and procedures of the Wayne Township Trustee Office and Payee program, (WTTO) Eligibility Standards and Township Laws, Generally Accepted Accounting Standards, Social Security Administration (SSA) guidelines for Representative Payees, and Medicare and Medicaid coverage (qualifications for beneficiaries to become or remain eligible for coverage).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Complete tasks as assigned by the Trustee, Deputy Trustee, and Payee Director.
Work with Payee clients within SSA guidelines for Representative Payee Programs.
Complete accounting transactions and reports. Provide timely and accurate record keeping.
Dispense and conserve funds according to the Social Security Administration (SSA) guidelines for Representative Payees. Create and dispense checks to beneficiaries. Provide timely responses to requests for information, and requests for action.
Communicate with WTTO Payee clients, and others on their behalf.
Maintain confidentiality.
Communicate with the beneficiaries, the Social Security Administration, and other organizations as needed / directed. Respond to requests for action or information.
Maintain a working knowledge of utility service, faith-based, and social service agencies / organizations, and the services and resources they provide.
