What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian (Immediate Opening) position at Waynesboro High School?
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Performs tasks to assist in maintaining a clean and safe learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency desired.
- Ability to read basic operating instructions.
- Some custodial cleaning experience or the ability to be trained in these areas.
REPORTS TO: Principal/Supervisor
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, wax, dust, vacuums and performs other general cleaning tasks in assigned area(s).
- Scrubs and disinfects toilet doors daily and cleans drinking fountains, urinals, toilet bows, and other fixtures daily using such materials as will keep them in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Operates and maintains custodial equipment.
- Wash windows on both the inside and outside.
- To be on duty when events are scheduled outside of the regular school hours (if requested).
- Prepares building for hosting special events or other school activities.
- Empties trash and garbage containers.
- Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting and other related maintenance activities.
- To report immediately any damage to school property giving, whenever possible, the names of persons responsible.
- Notifies school officials concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
- Work flexible hours during inclement weather for snow removal or upon call for emergencies.
- Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks and building entrance areas.
- Mows lawn and cultivates shrubbery beds.
- Shall be absent during work hours only for just and sufficient causes and only with permission of the principal or in accordance with a schedule of work hours. Remain on the premises during work hours.
- Provide custodial support for scheduling of school facility rentals. (additional pay per hour)
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal, supervisor or division level needs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 250 day / 8 hours per day.
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certificated personnel.
Salary : $31,237 - $47,370
