The Waynflete Development team secures financial resources for the school.  By joining our team, you will support a vital component of the development program at the leading private school in the state of Maine. In the fall of 2023, Waynflete embarked on a $19MM comprehensive capital campaign for a new Wellness and Athletics Center, as well as three years of unrestricted operational support through The Waynflete Fund. At approximately half way through the effort, the school seeks an organized and motivated person to bring the campaign to completion. 


POSITION SUMMARY

Waynflete is seeking a part time ( 24 hrs per week) Campaign Director to lead and manage the school’s comprehensive capital campaign. The campaign is expected to be completed by September 2026, at which time the position may come to a completion. The focus of this position will be on strategic planning, project management, donor pipeline movement, and campaign execution to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and growth of Waynflete.

Reporting directly to the Director of Development, this position will work closely with other members of the Waynflete administration, campaign volunteers, and external consultants to drive the success of the Waynflete Forward Campaign.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaign Donor Prospect Management (60% of time)

  • Collaborate with the Head of School, Director of Development, and volunteer campaign leadership to implement and drive activity for campaign donor visits.

  • Lead the campaign through its various stages, including leadership, major gift, and public phases of activity.

  • Develop and ensure implementation of cultivation and solicitation strategies.

  • Organize and manage the pool of individual campaign prospects.

  • Prioritize donors, conduct research, and draft communications, proposals, donor profiles, and briefing memos for prospective campaign donors.

Volunteer Management & Support (20% of time)

  • Engage campaign-related committee volunteers and pair them with development staff for all aspects of prospect-centered decision-making.

  • Support the volunteer committees; assist in campaign volunteer activation, help set strategy, run and conduct follow-up for group meetings, and support partnership with development staff on solicitations.

Operations & Reporting (15% of time)

  • Prepare and provide necessary regular campaign updates and numerical analysis to Waynflete Trustees, Advancement Committee, and the Director of Development.

  • Maintain a set of relevant campaign reports alongside the Data Manager.

  • Support the creation of campaign-related materials alongside the Director of Marketing and Communications.

  • Work with the Director of Development to maintain and report on campaign budgeting and expenses related to campaign operations.

  • Maintain and adhere to a comprehensive campaign timetable.

Donor Stewardship & Recognition (5% of time)

  • Maintain appropriate acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship platforms.

  • Assist in implementing campaign cultivation and recognition events, in conjunction with the Director of Development.


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS

  • A belief in independent school education, keen understanding of Waynflete’s mission and goals, and the ability to articulate its uniqueness and relevance.

  • Minimum of 2 years or equivalent experience in fundraising in a mission-driven nonprofit Capital Campaign environment. Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to manage all aspects of major campaign projects (project management experience is a plus).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite or Google Workspace software equivalent.

  • A solution-oriented mindset, a demonstrated sensitivity in handling confidential information, strong skills in diplomacy, communication, collaboration, and a willingness to adapt.

  • Some after-hour work required.
