Waypoint Academy, a coed residential treatment center specializing in treating adolescents ages 13-18 with anxiety, depression, and OCD is seeking an academic certified English teacher to join our team. We are located in Huntsville and are open year-round. Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced English Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English language and literature to students of various ages and skill levels. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for education, a strong commitment to student success, and a willingness to adapt to new teaching methods.

Duties:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Utilize learning technology and educational resources to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Develop and implement curriculum plans to ensure students achieve academic goals.
- Provide individualized academic advising and support to students, addressing their strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the special education teacher.
- Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to measure student progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in education administration tasks, such as lesson planning, grading, and attendance tracking.
- Utilize effective communication skills to convey complex ideas to students, parents, and colleagues.
- Maintain a positive and professional classroom environment, adhering to school policies and procedures.

Requirements:

- A bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.

- Teaching certification or a valid teaching license for the state of Utah

- Strong knowledge of English Language Arts and the principles of effective teaching.

- Experience with classroom management and mentoring.

- Excellent proofreading and writing skills to create engaging lesson plans and materials.

- Proficiency in learning technology and educational software.

- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

- Experience in curriculum development and education administration.

- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in education.

Pay and Schedule:

$24-28 per hour starting pay

3PM-7PM Monday-Friday
