What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Technician (Field Operations) position at Waypoint Analytical?
As an agricultural technician (field technician), you have the opportunity to gain ground-level knowledge and experience to help advance your Ag career into a full-time position on our management team. It will also add knowledge in the pursuit of Farm Management, Crop Protection or Agronomy. This position requires a desire to learn, an unmatched work ethic and the will to overcome challenges (environmental, mechanical and relational). The position starts as a seasonal "contractor" and can evolve into full-time employment with benefits.
If you enjoy serving the agricultural community and working outdoors, you're two steps closer to becoming the ideal field technician for Precision.Ag, LLC. The ideal candidate will also be proficient with iOS technology, MS Office (Excel/Word) and Google Works. The primary role for the field technician is to collect data (via soil samples) using ATVs, tablets and tools specific to the role. Organization and communication are of the highest priority for achieving success in this position. Training for additional tasks will be provided by the operations manager or field supervisor.
The successful candidate will have some experience/knowledge in any field of agriculture, preferably in row/cash crops or crop protection/production. Working conditions will vary greatly due to the scope and schedule/season of the work taking place. The technician will be outdoors in fields and weather may be inclement (extreme) at times. Willingness to travel in rural areas will be necessary. College students interested in precision agriculture are a good fit; persons who are retired and in good physical health are ideal as well. Individuals with a good work ethic and flexible schedules can be very successful.
At the time, this is a contractor (1099) position and benefits will not be provided. Pay can be very lucrative for a seasonal position (in the case of an internship, this is a paid position, as well). Some equipment will be provided, but the contractor will need to provide basic tools to complete the work. An ATV can be provided/leased by Precision.Ag, LLC for the work seasons. Ownership of a suitable ATV allows for higher pay for the technician.
