Job Title: Facilities Technician
Job-Type: Full Time (260 days)
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Location: Wayside Schools
Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $27.00 DOE
ABOUT WAYSIDE SCHOOLS: Wayside Schools is an open-enrollment, tuition-free Pre-K3-12th grade public charter school network that provides over 1,800 scholars across its three South Austin campuses with a rigorous education. Since 2012, Wayside schools has striven to empower historically underserved scholars, providing them with the instructional experiences, academics skills, intellectual habits and social and emotional competencies needed to become graduates from four-year colleges and universities, providing them with the access and opportunities they need to narrate their own futures and positively impact and empower the families and communities to which they belong.
Job Goal:
The facilities technician is responsible for all aspects of building maintenance and the maintenance of owned facilities and equipment. The primary responsibilities will include the coordination of preventative maintenance for facilities and equipment; operations and equipment; coordinate any remodels or constructions projects, emergency repairs, immediate cleaning if needed and performs other duties as required. The Facilities Technician provides onsite support across all schools within the Wayside Schools district.
Education/Certification/Experience Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- 3 years of general maintenance experience in the following areas preferred:
- Construction and finish work
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- HVAC
- Asphalt repair
- Framing
- Painting
- Cleaning/ Porter
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
Skill Requirements:

- Willingness to be flexible and go above and beyond to meet the needs of Wayside School’s students
- Ability to effectively multitask and a strong attention to detail

Performance Responsibilities:
- Employees must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel between campuses.
- Working knowledge and experiences in the following areas: painting, drywall, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, framing, flooring, cement work, wood work, lighting, janitorial
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Effort and Work Environment:
- Work will predominantly be inside but outdoor work will occur.
- Working conditions may be in both heat and cold.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more required. A
- Ability to work on knees, on ladders and to stoop and bend required.

This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The hours are 6:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., however, from time to time may work an extended schedule, including weekends and evenings according to demands of the role and tasks.
