Overview of the Member Engagement Specialist
The Member Engagement Specialist will report to the Member Operations team and will be tasked with initial engagement and enrollment of eligible health plan members in treatment facilities to educate them on Wayspring’s service offerings, as well as ongoing engagement with the Member throughout the program. The ideal candidate will be a highly personable and professional with excellent communication skills, and have experience as in peer recovery, behavioral health, or a substance use disorder setting. This position requires regular daytime travel to treatment facilities in the Cedar Rapids area. Mileage reimbursement is included!
Responsibilities of the Member Engagement Specialist
- Facilitate in person enrollments at partnered facilities
- Where appropriate, conduct outreach to providers to secure member referrals
- Successfully engage members and provide them with an educational overview of Wayspring’s service offerings
- Secure enrollments from members to participate in Wayspring’s services
- Secure verbal and written consent, and obtaining appropriate paperwork for services including consent to clinic services and release of information forms from members to participate in Wayspring’s services
- Secure members first appointment with clinical services at Wayspring
- Provide follow-up to members for 30 days post discharge at partnered facility
- Initiate creative strategies to facilitate member contact, including some in-person opportunities
- Provide on-going engagement to members both telephonically and in-person
- Incorporate recovery support themes into engagement
- Regularly review member profile for SDoH and clinical updates
- Maintain performance accountability around member enrollment, clinic conversion, and achieve performance targets
- Adhere to Wayspring information security and privacy requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ideal candidate would have peer specialist or peer recovery background in the substance use disorder space or experience in a behavioral health setting
- Highly organized and detail-oriented and self-driven with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability working in a matrixed environment
- The ability to communicate effectively and persuasively is required
- Exceptional verbal communication skills, and effective presentation skills
- Experience with CRM platforms or Electronic Health Record systems is preferred
- Bachelors degree is preferred, but not required
