The Child/Adolescent Intensive Behavioral Intervention Specialist will work directly with children, adolescents, and their families in the Intensive Flexible Family Supports (IFFS) Program. The IFFS program provides case management services and supports families with accessing resources and services that enable the child/adolescent to safely participate in their home and community. The Intensive Behavioral Intervention Specialist will build meaningful relationships with families and work collaboratively with the rest of the IFFS team to promote safety and positive outcomes for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disabilities (ID), and other disabilities.
SCHEDULE FOR THIS POSITION: 40 hours/week, schedule will vary based upon needs of the families but must include availability for 2 evenings/week
Essential Functions:
- Receive referrals from the VP of Children and Families or Senior Program Director and complete assessment to evaluate the needs of the child/adolescent and their family to determine appropriate next steps.
- Partner with family to develop a comprehensive Family Support Plan and to support with identification of social, educational, and recreational activities, insurance-based referrals including ABA therapy and mental health referrals, state and federal benefits, and other resources and referrals as applicable to support the child/adolescent’s inclusion and belonging in their community.
- Work in partnership with Waystone team members, consultants, and external providers including DDS staff to ensure Family Support Plan is implemented effectively.
- Support clients on caseload with in-person and/or virtual meetings according to client needs.
- Travel within the region (Merrimack Valley, Lowell, Northshore, Central Middlesex and Metro North) as required.
- Develop, implement, and collect data on in-home behavioral plans using ABA and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) methodology.
- Collaborate with the child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to support home-school connection; assist family with implementation of IEP strategies, interventions, and accommodations.
- Develop and implement parent and staff trainings as requested.
- Attend and participate in regular meetings and ongoing communication and collaboration with IFFS and Children and Family Services teams, including providing verbal and written updates and reports to internal and external stakeholders as requested.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with other reasonably related duties, as agreed upon with Senior Program Director and/or VP of Children and Families.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Child Development, or a related field with at least 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Applicants with an Associates degree or High School diploma and 5 years of experience will be considered.
- Strong communication skills and knowledge of services and resources for children, adolescents, and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and/or behavioral challenges and their families.
- Direct experience with intensive case management, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), special education services, Positive Behavior Support (PBS), trauma-informed service delivery, and/or behavioral intervention preferred.
- Experience working with families from a variety of cultural backgrounds and families experiencing social and economic challenges, such as substance use disorder or housing instability.
- Bilingual preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing with minimum of 1 year driving experience.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
