Primary Purpose: Oversee and coordinate positive behavioral supports, crisis management, and behavior management strategies and related training across ID/DD and AB/ program services.
Essential Functions:
- Hire, supervise, evaluate, and train behavioral health clinicians. Conduct annual performance evaluations and monthly supervisions.
- Develop, oversee, and coordinate behavior management strategies (Behavior Plans, Guidelines, Restrictive interventions, Assessments, and Behavior modifying medication treatment plans). Ensure data collection is maintained consistently and summarized quarterly by clinicians. In conjunction with Chief Program Operations Officer, coordinate intake and other behavioral health meetings.
- Coordinate training for staff including, but not limited to, PBS, ABA, Specific plans/interventions, restrictive practices, crisis management, regulatory requirements, etc. Provide behavioral health consultation to other members of the Senior Management team (including other Directors and Program Management) when needed.
- Oversee and coordinate crisis management supports across ID/DD and ABI programs. Coordinate pertinent communications with other community and facility-based health care providers/ networks.
- Ensure compliance with DDS, CARF, MH, and MRC regulations and standards. Develop and revise policies to coincide with regulations/standards.
Other Responsibilities:
- Screen new referrals and identify psychological and behavioral supports needed
- Regular communication with Program Directors and direct care staff in order to monitor mental health status, identify potential problems, and promote preventive strategies
- Plan and assist in behavioral/psychiatric crisis response and follow-up care
- Communication with psychiatrists, therapists and other health care providers, as needed, to promote quality behavioral health care for individuals
- Attend psychiatric visits during unstable periods to consult regarding behavioral status
- Attend professional meetings and conferences periodically to update and refresh skills and knowledge
- Provide advice and assistance in developing agency policies which affect mental health and behavioral treatment planning
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education or related field
- Social Work or Psychology License preferred
- 5-10 years' experience working with ID/DD, ABI/TBI, MH
- At least 2 years' experience in an Administrative or Management capacity
- Experience and knowledge of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and/or PBS (Positive Behavior Supports)
- Demonstrated crisis management experience
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Proficient in computer skills and with Microsoft Office (Including Excel, Word, Excel, HCSIS, Database management, and other software applications
- Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills
- Availability to work extended/flexible hours to accommodate meeting/training/audit preparation needs
- Experience with policy development, report development, work plan creation oversight, and crisis management as it relates to compliance with agency, regulatory and accreditation standards
- Ability to motivate direct line employees and leaders during times of change and growth
- Ability to travel within the Greater Merrimack Valley and Greater Lowell areas
- Driver's license and a minimum of 1 year of driving experience
- Regular and predictable attendance
