INTENSIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION SPECIALIST, Bi-lingual Preferred

The Intensive Behavioral Intervention Specialist maintains meaningful relationships and positive outcomes with families as part of the greater team to prevent additional crisis and potential residential placement for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , Intellectual Disabilities (ID) and other disabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive referrals from the VP of Children & Family Services or IFFS Senior Director and complete assessment on the child/adolescent and their family to determine needed appointments.
  • Utilize Charting the Life Course tool and the IFFS check list to develop in partnership with the family the Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP).
  • Arrange for and assure training for any family on the caseload when applicable.
  • Serve as the principle liaison between the family support program and other resources working with families on assigned families.
  • Attend scheduled Children & Family Support staff meetings.
  • Submit written reports on a monthly basis and other reports as assigned, as well as behavioral strategies and plans (if applicable) and reports as requested.
  • Travel within the Merrimack Valley, Lowell, Northshore, Central Middlesex and Metro North is a requirement.
  • In person or zoom meetings are necessary each week for all clients on your case load. two late evenings per week are required; but schedule can be adjusted to accommodate the two late evenings during the week.
  • Assist IFFS Senior Director in researching and preparing information, reports and surveys concerning the program, as well as Waystone Health & Human Services training in conjunction with the VP of Children and Family Services.
  • Attend all required Waystone trainings and other conferences and workshops across the state as requested to attend.

Intervention Specialist Role

  • Develop in partnership with families social, educational, recreational options and activities and research and coordinate benefits (state, federal, etc.) and other information for families.
  • Develop, implement, design simple data collection tool for parent on in home behavioral goals using ABA and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) methodology.
  • Work in conjunction as needed with BCBA consultants and assist other IFFS staff as needed in writing and implementing behavioral benchmarks for parent/caregivers.
  • Provide information/referrals for insurance covered in-home and center based ABA and other therapies, ie: IHT, TM, ICC, CSA, etc.
  • Responsible to work in partnership on the implementation of IFSP.
  • Provide the IFFS Senior Director, the VP of Children & Family Services, and the DDS Service Agency of the status of the families served.
  • Develop and provide direct parent trainings as needed/ requested and parent and/or staff training 2-4 times annually, this can be in person or virtual
  • Addresses questions and concerns related to the IEP and coordinates with school home team to assist in implementing behavioral strategies at home as outlined in the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
  • Attend IEP meetings as needed to collaborate the in-home training with the school in-home training. Review with parent school methodology to encourage using the same methodology at home that is used at school to demonstrate skill acquisition to the home environment once the benchmark has been mastered at school.
  • Review with parents what augmentative communication, schedule boards, ACC devices, PECS, etc., are being used at school and encourage part do the same again based on level of mastery from progress reports.
  • Meet regularly with the IFFS Senior Director and/or the VP of Children & Family Services for supervision (in person and/ or zoom.)
  • Meet as needed with the family therapist, behavioral therapist, or any other consultant for the program.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge of services for children/adolescents with disabilities and their families.
  • Minimum of BA degree in social work, psychology, special education, or a related field, masters preferred or working on Masters in the field.
  • Experience as SPED Teacher, In-home ABA Technician or Lead Behaviorist preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office: excel, word, PowerPoint, and outlook for scheduling purposes. Valid drivers license with minimum of 1 year driving experience.
  • Regular and predictable attendance
