What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Custom Cabinet Builder position at WB Mfg?
JOB PURPOSE or JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform duties to execute orders to completed status, based on communicated timelines. Continually focus on quality, efficiency, and safety that support production goals and company standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and prioritize daily work by talking to the area lead or Production Supervisor and/or pulling work order information.
- Evaluate projects that are ready for build or are outstanding.
- Gather parts needed to fulfill work orders.
- Build products according to customer and product specifications.
- Perform rework and repair of damaged cabinets as needed and according to customer requests.
- Provide direction to employees who are performing support activities as needed.
- Work with employees on other machines to identify what cuts or raw materials are needed for an order.
- Work with engineers on product designs or issues that arise in cab cell or flat panel.
- Develop familiarity with equipment and location of machines including the output each machine generates, i.e. type of item created.
- Hand band parts and cabinets.
- Safely use various hand tools to complete projects.
- Support other production areas as needed.
- Report to and be ready to work at the scheduled start time.
- Report problems to area lead or supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Comply with all safety and company policies.
- Make recommendations as needed that support a lean and efficient manufacturing environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Responsibilities
- Utilize various hand tools.
- Practice and model proper safety rules and procedures. Wear proper PPE equipment as required for the area including a full protective suit and respirator. Be familiar with SDS requirements.
- Report to and be ready to work at the scheduled start time.
Shift specifications
- 10 hours a day
- 40 hours per week; scheduled for 45 hours per week
- Hired for either weekends or weekdays shifts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school graduate, GED or equivalent.
Experience and/or Training:
- Experience reading blueprints or drawings.
- Intermediate carpentry skills and knowledge.
- Experience constructing and fabricating parts using hand tools.
Licenses/Certificates: None
Technology/Equipment: Basic computer skills, i.e., use of a keyboard, and navigation of software applications.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Standing for the working hours of each shift, 10 hours daily. Walking in the Production department to different areas of work. Speaking, hearing, seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools. 6-9 hours per include bending, stooping, twisting, and turning. Frequently lift 75 lbs., approximately 4-7 hours per day. Reach overhead occasionally, less than 3 hours per day. Push and pull up to 200 lbs. frequently. Team-lift as specified by leadership.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor working environment, hot in Summer, temperature controlled in Winter. Moving machinery, i.e. forklifts, moveable carts, etc. Uneven ground where cart tracks are identified. Air quality may be dusty and potentially require additional PPE in certain areas. Sound level below 85 decibels except in areas specified as requiring hearing protection.
