The Collateral Specialist will be responsible for managing the tasks associated with the evaluation, analysis, reporting and monitoring of collateral pledged within the business loan portfolio. The duties assigned to this position will help ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulations while promoting efficient and effective end-to-end collateral processes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the entire business lending team and make necessary updates to ensure collateral is accurate and validated in both the loan origination software and in the core.
- Complete processes associated with ordering 3rd party appraisals and appraisal reviews on both real estate and personal property.
- Organize and reconcile appraisal and appraisal review invoices and billing monthly.
- Manage and complete annual reviews of approved appraisers.
- Track and report collateral value trends of collateral types within the business loan portfolio.
- Research and review potential new appraisers and other technology to create efficiency within the collateral valuation process.
- Review and process internal valuations of collateral, including but not limited to real estate, equipment, livestock, and vehicles.
- Monitor recurring tracking reports to ensure proper perfection of collateral liens, especially the perfection of liens on titled assets.
- Provide continuous updates to procedures resulting in an ongoing sound collateral monitoring system.
- Inspect collateral through documented visits to the subject property.
- Setup and manage ticklers within the loan origination software associated with collateral inspections, collection of collateral insurance, filing and continuations of UCC’s, borrowing base certificates and irrevocable letters of credit.
- Monitor and manage automobile floor plan audits and inspections.
- Help business lending staff determine collateral risk associated with proposed loan exposures through an objective opinion of collateral value.
- Work together with the Business Lending Administration Manager to monitor, identify, and report collateral deficiencies within the business loan portfolio.
- Communicate and engage with appraisers and insurance agents to create a solid working relationship.
Work Relationships and Scope: Reports directly to the Business Lending Administration Manager. Will have regular contact with vendors and employees of the Lending Department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Education/Experience:
- Previous lending experience and knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to self-transport with reliable transportation to various properties throughout WCCU’s field of membership.
