Position
The Claims Operations department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a full-time Claims Intake Specialist. This posting is open to internal or external candidates.
Responsibilities
The Claims Intake Specialist creates new business associate records on the computer systems by entering data submitted on formal reports received from policyholders or providers, and reports received via the internet, telephone, mail or fax. The person in this position verifies all new and existing claimant business associate records to ensure accuracy and avoid duplication of information. The Claims Intake Specialist provides outstanding customer service throughout the intake process, alerts the underwriting manager to claims where there are coverage issues or problems on new or reinstated policies, and refers claimant and policyholder inconsistencies to claims, underwriting or fraud department for further investigation. The person in this position updates claimant and BA records based on information received from adjusters or policyholders and assists claims, underwriting, SIU, accounting, marketing, auditing, legal, and imaging departments as needed.
Qualifications
The most qualified applicants will have:
- High school diploma; associate's degree preferred.
- At least two years of customer service experience.
- Strong typing skills and good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent telephone customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of general insurance terminology preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology ICD9 codes preferred.
Minimum pay for this position is $20.10/ hour.

All employees earn 4 weeks of vacation in their first year.
Internal candidates should have acceptable job performance, 6 months in their current position, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.
