This is an exciting time at WCG and we are growing our Project Engineering team ! The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for supporting project teams, clearing obstacles, and coordinating technical disciplines that complex construction projects involve. The PE helps monitor schedules, update plans, and reports financial forecasts for our projects, while also managing the technical elements related to project safety, accuracy, and quality. This role is integral to the success of our construction projects and our PEs involvement spans from project conception to completion. This role is primarily located at the project site(s) along the front range, from Fort Collins to Pueblo, or along the I-70 corridor from Limon to Vail.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Promote safety on the project site.
  • Reviews and becomes generally familiar with the Prime Contract requirements, especially for matters related to payment terms, meetings, requests for information (RFI), submittals, closeout documentation, and the like.
  • Logs, tracks, reviews, or generates RFIs (as applicable) and communicates with designers to facilitate timely, complete responses so as not to disrupt activities onsite.
  • Study and understand the projects contract documents (drawings and specifications). As-built these documents during construction, to include RFIs, changes, ASIs and the like.
  • Using Procore, create a complete submittal log and distribute to the Architect and Owner for review and / or approval. Track submittals from all trade partners, review submittals for accuracy, and distribute them to the relevant parties.
  • Develop and maintain the procurement tracking log to ensure all materials and equipment arrive as needed to maintain the project schedule.
  • Participate and support the project team in Owner, Architect, Contractor meetings. Accurately document meeting discussions, decisions, and direction.
  • Using Procore, assist in drafting and distribution of subcontracts and purchase orders to subcontractors and suppliers while ensuring that all commitments are executed and submittals are approved prior to work starting.
  • Leads the project closeout process including creating and distributing punch lists and ensuring timely completion of punch items. Collects and organizes closeout, warranty, and O&M information from subcontractors to submit to Owners.
  • Controls project documents by updating drawings and specifications whenever changes are made to the design as required to ensure all stakeholders have the most current information.
  • Assists Project Managers, Assistant Project Superintendents and Project Superintendents with a variety of action items related to the daily operations of field work activities and organization of subcontractors.
  • Responsible for assisting with ordering materials and supplies as well as coordinating delivery schedules.
  • May assist with job budgeting by verifying subcontractor / supplier scopes of work, soliciting bids, obtaining trade pricing for changes in the scope of work, logging change events and related change orders in Procore.
  • Support the project team with CPM schedule updates and 4-week look ahead schedules.
  • Participate in and prepare pre-work meetings for each scope prior to each trade starting work on the project. Responsible for documenting pre-work meetings in Procore.
  • Provides support to produce regular project status reports (generally monthly). This includes distributing updated submittals logs, meeting logs, payment tracking logs, contingency logs, buyout logs, ASI logs, RFI logs, schedule updates (i.e. 4-week and Master), and other pertinent project information, as applicable.
  • Along with the Superintendent, lead on site quality efforts to ensure all work and equipment is installed per the project documents or the established industry standard quality benchmarks.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing company procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Other tasks, as applicable, to support the project team and ensure compliance with contract obligations.
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management or at least four (4) years similar technical experience.
  • 2 - 5 years relevant experience as a Project Engineer in commercial construction.
  • Must possess general understandings of architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
  • Experienced in construction layout, blueprint, and shop drawing reading.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License.
  • Excellent math, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally.
  • Self-starter that is highly organized.
  • Knowledge of Procore Construction Management Software, preferred.
  • Scheduling software experience, preferred.
  • OSHA 30, preferred.
  • Local (or soon to be local) candidates preferred.
