Currently seeking a Sr. System Engineer in San Diego, CA
WCG is looking to hire a candidate with a broad experience in communications systems. We are a small business whose core service is supporting DoD programs in areas of communications and aerospace. Given a responsive but minimal corporate structure, a successful candidate will have opportunity to perform with self-driven autonomy to meet system engineering objectives. The work will be generally performed in designated facilities, but it does offer partial remote work (25%). Additionally, candidate will benefit from a 9 / 80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Some minimal travel may be required, with opportunity to reduce or increase travel based on candidate’s skill, experience, and willingness to learn.
At a high level, this position involves development, execution, and maintenance of a compliance test program for MUOS, a WCDMA-based satellite system. As a member of support staff to a DoD organization, a successful candidate will be part of a larger team developing and executing a certification test program, spanning technical, functional, and performance requirements.
This position will expect the candidate to become an expert on vast quantity of information and eventually become the go-to Sr. System Engineer. This offers significant opportunity to grow in breadth of knowledge and experience, working with large organizations, third party vendors, hands-on test equipment, live and test systems, security concepts, diagrams and models, configuration management, troubleshooting, and, at times, reverser-engineering.
Minimal Job Requirements :
- BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
- On-site (50-75% onsite, work in the lab), in San Diego, CA
- Active SECRET DoD clearance or higher
- 5 years experience in a System Engineering or System Analyst position, with a focus on communications systems and protocols
- Experience with cellular technology highly desired
