Position Summary
Provides data analytics and administrative support for tracking and improving the quality and patient safety performance of clinical departments.
Job Responsibilities
- Collects and maintains data used to measure current quality and patient safety performance by designing queries, managing data dictionaries and developing business intelligence to meet the needs of reporting.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of database programs used to automate the extraction and archiving of data.
- Assists in the development and distribution of reports, prepares standard scheduled reports and maintains a catalog of reports for distribution. Responsible for documenting the processes and procedures for reporting.
- Through automated reports and manual review of charts, generates reports at the practice and provider levels with quality and patient safety metrics. Makes recommendations for standardization and provides database solutions where applicable.
- Communicates with faculty and staff about quality and patient safety priorities and departmental performance. Provides education on quality and patient safety standards. Builds relationships with physicians and practice managers.
- Develops detailed quality and patient safety improvement plans with departmental quality and patient safety leadership.
- Monitors levels of quality of service as measured by patient feedback, staff feedback, and direct observation. Recommends strategies that are responsive to quality and patient safety needs.
- Identifies opportunities for process redesign, leads small tests of change, and follows metrics in real time for evidence of improvement. Generates process maps at practice level, including workflows around specific quality and patient safety metrics.
- Tracks overall progress for multiple departmental projects involving quality and patient safety activities. Coordinates departmental, institutional and external resources in service to quality and patient goals.
Education
Experience
Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
5 years of increasing levels of experience and responsibility in healthcare.
2 years of experience with quality and performance improvement.
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.
