Position Summary
Under direction, manages budgetary and financial reporting activities
Job Responsibilities
- Develops the annual operating budget and associated policies and guidelines. Gathers industry or peer data for comparison and best practices.
- Responsible for the administration of departmental budget(s) and the implementation of budgets into the enterprise resource financial system.
- Prepares and distributes allocations and associated schedules to calculate funding sources for allocations. Updates and maintains changes to allocations as needed. Maintains budget databases and models used for allocations and trending analysis.
- Prepares preliminary budget forecasts.
- Assists in the development and execution of budgeting modules / templates. Identifies and recommends improvements to previous versions of budgeting modules and participates in training sessions surrounding the use and features of the modules.
- Works with grants and clinical trials administrators to confirm funding and expenditures.
- Provides guidance on budget policies to ensure adherence to institutional policies and standards.
- Develops and maintains budget vs. actual reports. Analyzes variances to identify and assist in rectifying any budget discrepancies. Escalates any unresolved issues.
- Monitors and performs funding and revenue / expense transfer transactions as needed.
- Prepares report of faculty earning $500,000 or more in total compensation. Calculates faculty compensation payout to determine supplemental accruals.
