What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Engagement Assistant position at We Are Blood?
The Community Engagement Assistant will play an important role in meeting the objectives of the Community Engagement department. The core objective of this position is to provide administrative, operational, and customer service support for the department and assistance in our programs for donor stewardship, loyalty, recognition, and rewards.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the point of contact for donor customer service inquiries, online portal questions, donor store help, We Are Blood info inquiries, requests, and responses.
- Educate, tele-recruit and book appointments for specific appointment types based on blood type.
- Assist with promotional planning, including inventory, distribution, internal communications, coordination, and tracking results of donor promotions
- Facilitate all physical mailings for Community Engagement contacts or audiences, including drive posters, monthly multi-gallon donor mailings, and donor store items.
- Produce invoices, purchase orders, and contract review forms for the department
- General filing and clerical support, including the ordering of office supplies and restocking of swag items in support of Community Engagement.
- Support year-end mobile drive host recognition gift process and coordination with mobile account managers on delivery
- Assist in statistical report gathering for year-end competitions, events, etc.

- Other tasks as needed: tele-recruiting and booking appointments for mobile drives, platelets or whole blood donors as needed, order food for events/drives as needed, assist with maintaining the marketing closet and organization of promotional items as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by Community Engagement Director
Skills, Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer some college.
- Requires 2 years clerical, administrative, or marketing experience.
- Proficiency using software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Must have an aptitude for, and interest in, learning new computer software.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills, the ability to handle multiple projects and follow through with little supervision.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the staff and the public.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material.
- Must be 21 with a valid Texas driver’s license, proof of insurance and an acceptable driving record.
Physical and Mental Ability:
- Must be detail oriented, organized. and able to use sound judgment.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, climb a ladder, bend, stoop and reach above shoulders, and occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Must be able to prioritize.
- Must be able to assimilate knowledge then apply it to daily activities.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays and Sunday as needed
