Description
Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for on-the-floor quality representation, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of documentation, and supporting quality control activities. This role involves assessing Electronic Medical Records (EMR), communicating results, performing inspections, and providing exemplary customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- On-The-Floor Quality Representation:
- Assess Electronic Medical Records (EMR) including past medical history, current and past labs, hospital goals of care, diagnostic tests, and hemodynamics to ensure suitability requirements are met.
- Communicate results with external and internal departments to release-to-recovery or gather corrections needed.
- Escalate issues appropriately for guidance from Quality Leadership, Area Management, AOC, and/or Medical Director.
- Perform inspections at random to assess process quality.
- Communicate inspection results with the operations team.
- Resolve communication issues and/or notify appropriate staff.
- Promote effective communication between shifts.
- Provide exemplary customer service to ensure internal customer satisfaction.
- Working day shifts, including weekends, as determined by operational necessity (potentially on-call status).
- Documentation Coordination:
- Maintain quality control of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Non-Donor Referral Data for organ deferrals.
- Ensure submission of all donor procurement forms, including UNOS forms, is correct, complete, and uploaded to DonorNet and EMR.
- Ensure departments and outside transplant centers receive applicable donor information needed to complete their charts.
- Collect and upload information necessary to complete any regulatory documentation for each organ donor, ensuring all donor records in the EMR are correct and complete.
- Ensure all UNOS post-donor documentation is uploaded to EMR.
- Send for offsite donor and import organ records as needed in accordance with procedures.
- Notify the Business Office of all organs to be billed.
- Assist the Patient Safety Officer in executing the reporting of adverse events.
- Case Management:
- Identify and review donor screening/authorization paperwork from the EMR for completeness and accuracy.
- Obtain and review donor tissue recovery forms for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform QC reviews of tissue donor recovery records and enter required data into the EMR.
- Perform final blood sample suitability assessments.
- Request medical records from outside agencies and autopsy/toxicology reports from coroners/pathologists.
- Initiate non-conformance workflows when necessary.
- Assemble and review tissue final donor records/charts, finalize data entry into the EMR, and forward copies to tissue processing partners.
- Obtain, review, and disseminate serology, culture, and autopsy/toxicology/pathology reports to appropriate tissue processing partners and other departments.
- File donor records and upload completed donor records to the EMR.
- Prepare statistical and performance reports as requested.
