Position Summary
The Executive Director of the Training Trust will lead the strategic, operational, and administrative functions of the organization. The role is responsible for ensuring the trust delivers high-quality, industry-relevant training programs that meet the needs of the workforce and employers.
As a key representative of the Training Trust, the Executive Director will work closely with labor unions, employers, educational institutions, and government agencies to strengthen workforce development initiatives and expand training opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the organization's vision, goals, and strategic plans in alignment with the objectives of the Board of Trustees.
- Oversee the expansion and development of training programs that meet industry standards and respond to emerging workforce trends.
- Build strong relationships with labor unions, employers, apprenticeship programs, and government partners to enhance workforce training opportunities.
Program Development and Management
- Lead the creation, improvement, and evaluation of training programs to ensure they are effective and aligned with current industry needs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, accreditation standards, and funding requirements for training programs.
- Manage and monitor program performance through data analysis, participant feedback, and key performance indicators.
Financial Oversight and Fundraising
- Develop and manage the organization's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and financial sustainability.
- Pursue and secure funding from grants, partnerships, and other sources to support the development and growth of training programs.
- Provide regular financial and operational reports to the Board of Trustees.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a primary liaison between the Training Trust, unions, employers, government entities, and educational institutions.
- Represent the organization at conferences, events, and meetings to promote its mission and increase its visibility within the industry.
- Maintain strong communication with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback for continuous program improvement.
- Operational and Staff Management
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of training programs.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of staff and instructors, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize operational efficiency and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Board Relations
- Work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
- Provide regular updates and reports on organizational performance, program outcomes, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with the board on strategic planning, budget approval, and key decisions impacting the organization.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in workforce development, labor relations, nonprofit management, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of workforce training and development, particularly in unionized industries.
- Proven experience managing budgets, securing funding, and overseeing financial operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational management experience, including staff supervision and program development.
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory and funding environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with labor unions, apprenticeship programs, or industry-specific training trusts.
- Knowledge of regional and national workforce development trends.
- Strong background in public speaking, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
- 4 year degree in relevant field.
