Job Summary:
The Qualified Professional (QP) will work as a leader and advocate within the mental health and behavioral support system, ensuring that clients receive comprehensive, client-centered care. The QP will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs, create care plans, and coordinate services. This position requires expertise in behavioral health, recovery principles, and a strong ability to guide and mentor clients on their journey toward stability and independence.

This position requires the applicant to hold both a QMHP status, AND North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Certification OR Certificate of Peer Supports Supervision.

Qualified Professionals (QPs) may be required to provide supervision to staff member of Associate Professionals (APs) and Paraprofessionals (PP) status.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate services and ensure person-centeredness in all aspects of the service planning process.

Develop individualized care and recovery plans in collaboration with clients and their support systems.

Ensure immediate changes are made in treatment plans as clients educate and support their families, advocating for clients’ rights and preferences.

Conduct thorough assessments to determine client needs, goals, and strengths.

Monitor utilization of services to ensure they are effective, appropriate, and within the limits set forth in rules, PCPs, and service authorizations.

Monitor client progress and adjust care plans as necessary, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Document client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures.

Provide direct support, including skills building, emotional support, and assistance with daily living activities.

Educate clients and families about available resources, treatment options, and self-advocacy techniques.

Promote recovery principles and combat stigma through supportive interventions.

Coordinate services and collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure comprehensive care.

Consult with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process.

Advocate for effective recovery services and connect clients with community resources (e.g., local agencies, housing providers, and social organizations).

Demonstrate a strong commitment to the rights and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences, work in market jobs, and access adequate and continuous supports and services.

Establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect their rights and personal preferences in treatment.

Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Participate in continuing education and training sessions to maintain current knowledge in the field.

Requirements:

Familiarity with CPSS roles and recovery principles.

Strong understanding of the recovery process and trauma-informed care.

Experience in Medicaid-based services and behavioral health settings is preferred.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

Education:
Master’s degree in a human services field with 1 year of experience, OR

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with 2 years of experience, OR

Bachelor’s degree in another field with 4 years of experience in MH/DD/SAS.

Certifications:

This position requires the applicant to hold both a QMHP status, AND North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Certification OR Certificate of Peer Supports Supervision.

CPR, NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens Certifications (Required)

Licensing & Insurance:
Possess current, unrestricted, state appropriate driver’s license

Possess current, unrestricted, vehicle insurance and provide own transportation for use in fulfilling job requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Medicaid clients and in behavioral health settings.

Crisis intervention training or relevant certifications.

Familiarity with community resources in North Carolina.

Work Environment:
Work performed in various settings, including medical centers, community agencies, outpatient facilities, client homes, and transport vehicles.

The environment may be noisy, irregular, and unpredictable at times, requiring resilience and adaptability.

Physical Demands:
Primarily sedentary, involving sitting, standing, walking, and occasional carrying of light items.
