Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of nationwide new home construction. This role will manage a team of 6-7 professionals, ensuring seamless coordination across home design, contractor procurement, construction management, warranty support, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and deep expertise in residential construction and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee General Contractor procurement, construction management, and house plan development.Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.Manage construction budgets, cost controls, and contract negotiations.Lead the Construction Management team to ensure compliance with Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) and VA standards.Ensure adherence to Energy Star certification, safety protocols, and close-out processes.Review and negotiate change orders within approval authority.Maintain strong relationships with General Contractors and conduct post-project evaluations to implement best practices.Oversee architectural plan modifications and manage priority requests.Provide technical assistance, support warranty claims, and drive process improvements.Mentor and guide team members, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).Travel nationwide to inspect construction projects as needed.Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.10 years of residential construction experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Strong background in land development, contract negotiation, budgeting, and construction operations.Proven ability to manage multiple projects across a broad geographic region.Experience working under pressure, coordinating multiple teams, and maintaining efficiency.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project) and database applications.Ability to travel nationwide as required.Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based, with some time spent on construction sites.Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. and sit for extended periods.Occasional evening and weekend travel required.
