Delivery Driver/Warehouse Worker

NOTE: This position is full-time and onsite, however We Share Hope offers employees a 4-day work week (four, 9 hour days.)

In this role you will serve as The Full Time Driver to ensure smooth operation of warehouse activities so that We Share Hope (WSH) can fulfill its mission of providing packaged food, fresh meats, produce, and personal health care items to individuals and families in need in the Rhode Island community.

As part of the WSH operations team your duties will include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:

Deliveries/Pickups: (Primary role)

• Drive a 26-foot refrigerated truck, non-CDL, or the cargo van, to pick up daily pallet shipments of food and personal care items received from WSH donors.
• Load, unload, and inspect products, verifying quantities and expiration dates, informing the appropriate supervisor of any issues found.
• Deliver truckloads of donations to partner organizations, requiring the use of an electric jack on the tailgate of the truck to lower and safely unload pallets to various locations, both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
• Maintain a basic working inventory of current and depleted food and personal care items at the distribution center.
• Assist with overall organization and maintenance of distribution facility.
• Ensure allocated pallets and parcels of food and personal care items are given to the proper recipients
• Interface with food pantry staff to ensure adequate inventory.
• Safely operate and maintain electric pallet jack and forklift.
• Adhere to all food safety requirements
• This role requires extensive personal interaction with internal and external customers, verifying documentation and loads, and safely transporting food to and from designated locations
• Maintenance tasks: garbage collection, sweeping, mopping, etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• A valid state issued driver’s license
• A high School diploma, GED, is required for this role.
• 2 years of driving experience, with an emphasis on vehicle lift gate operation.
• Electric pallet jack experience is a requirement, forklift experience a plus.
• Experience working with a refrigerated truck is a plus
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• Ability to work independently.
• Flexible in being able to adapt to different work details and assignments.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment state and federal background checks and DOT drug and alcohol test
• Passion and commitment to serving those in need across the Rhode Island community

Physical Requirements Applicants for this role must be able to:

• Lift up to 60lbs, bend, squat, and stretch to move boxes, parcels, and shipments
• Climb small to medium flights of stairs
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Exposure to varied temperatures in warehouse
• Exposure to weather and fluctuation hot/cold temperatures, and walk in freezer
• Ability to drive up to 4-5 hours and work 9 hours per day.

Hours: M-F 7:00am-4:00pm

Hourly pay: $18-20/hour
