A local business is looking to add to their team. They are looking to add a Quality Assurance Technician on 2nd shift
Pay and shift will be discussed at the time of the interview
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Inspect and analyze meat raw materials and finished products using physical, chemical, and microbiological methods;
- Perform preoperational and operational plant inspections of the entire facility, inside and outside;
- Monitor incoming and outgoing shipments of product;
- Responsible for inspecting incoming loads of raw material and outgoing shipments of product for conformance to specifications and referring deviations to supervisory personnel;
- Check the condition of incoming raw material and packaging supply trucks;
- Special attention and strict adherence must be given to the Quality Assurance Guidelines at all times to ensure the wholesomeness of our product;
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization within the quality assurance laboratories and keep supplies readily available for production workers;
- Determine blend size, collect samples, and analyze blends for fat percentage;
- Document information in accordance with plant programs (HACCP, SSOPs and GMPs);
- Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures;
- Adhere to Plant’s security and safety policies and procedures; and
- Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a clean environment and with daily exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements;
- Ability to wear safety gear including safety glasses, and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;
- Frequent periods of standing and walking;
- Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and lifting to 20 lbs. unassisted;
- Ability to work well with co-workers in a physically close environment; and
- Ability to hear, comprehend and professionally respond to co-workers inquiries, comments and concerns.
General Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Food Sciences preferred
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of previous quality assurance experience in the food industry
- Have adequate knowledge of safe lifting procedures, “lockout/tagout” procedures, and proper safety procedures
- Communication skills and the ability to work well with others and U.S.D.A Inspectors are a must
- Familiar with USDA regulations and directives and the HACCP, SSOP, GMP and SOP programs preferred
- Knowledge of proper procedures for handling chemicals and laboratory safety procedures
- Functional knowledge and experience using laboratory grinder, babcock shaker, food processor and other equipment
- Good basic math skills and able to write clearly and legibly
- Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, E-mail, and Excel
- Must have knowledge of FDA’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP required
- Ability to stay focused and accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision and within established timeframes
- Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training; and
- Must be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
