Wea Township is in Tippecanoe County Indiana and is a fast growing and vibrant community. Wea Township Fire Department is currently seeking a highly motivated, professional, and service oriented person for the position of Captain/EMT. The position of Captain is a highly visible position within the community served, and possession of a strong moral character is required. Wea Township FD is a non-transport, otherwise full-service fire department responding to all types of emergencies.

Work Schedule: A twenty-four-hour work period is utilized based upon the Berkeley schedule: 24 on 24 off, 24 on 24 off, 24 on 96 off.

Minimum qualifications to be considered:

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the fire service with proven, strong leadership qualities.

· High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency

· Associate degree in Fire Science or closely related field is preferred, or a person with a desire to achieve further education throughout their career.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record throughout employment.

· Indiana Emergency Medical Technician Certification

· Firefighter I & II certification

· Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level certifications

· Driver Operator-pumper certification

· Fire Officer 1 certification

· Current Health Care Provider BLS CPR/AED.

· NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800.

· Successful completion of a criminal history, drivers’ history, medical and mental health examinations. Physical and mental health testing is based upon NFPA 1582 requirements and 1977 Fund requirements.

· All Required Certifications must be recognized by the State of Indiana.

A copy of Driver/Operator-Pumper certification

A copy of Fire Officer 1 certification

Salary and Benefits:

· Captain/EMT Starting Pay: $60,000-65,000 Annually DOQ
