Weaber is one of the largest hardwood lumber manufacturers in the nation crafting hardwood solutions for over 80 years and a leader in flooring, wall boards, moldings, and more. We are a growing company that is always looking for dedicated individuals to join our team.
Currently, we are seeking an experienced Plant Engineer in our Hardwood Lumber operations.
Purpose:
The Plant Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and efficiency and reliability of the plant’s equipment and processes. This role involves leading maintenance activities, managing engineering projects, and ensuring compliance with environmental compliance standards.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance programs for equipment.
- Ensure that all plant systems and machinery operate at peak performance.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance, making recommendations for improvement.
- Respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Plan, manage, and execute engineering projects aimed at improving plant operations.
- Prepare project budgets, timelines, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with existing and future vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project completion.
- Evaluate and select new equipment and technologies to enhance production capabilities.
- Provide technical support and expertise to production and maintenance teams.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, or control systems issues.
- Implement lean manufacturing techniques and other process optimization.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Maintain records of equipment repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through process improvements and energy-efficient measures.
Special Requirements:
- Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in plant engineering or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to design and understand precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule preventatives and address equipment failures.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Proficient in engineering software, such as CAD, and familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred.
- Lean Sigma green belt
