About the Platform Engineering Team:
We aim to design, build and provide scalable, secure, and stable infrastructure, while also enabling our engineers to quickly and easily deploy new code. The Wealthsimple ecosystem is primarily Ruby on Rails and JavaScript micro services, with state backed by Aurora (PostgreSQL) and Redis. The infrastructure-specific stack you will work on is powered by AWS, built by Ansible, deployed with Terraform, run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, powered by Docker and Consul and finally, orchestrated by Nomad and "coming soon" Kubernetes.
Data-Stores team is a part of the Platform Engineering team in Wealthsimple with the mandate of strengthening our data infrastructure through stewardship of all our storage systems, including: Oracle EBS, Aurora Postgres RDS, DynamoDB and Redis. The team set and standardize best practices, administer and build tools to improve the reliability, scalability, and usability of these systems.
\n- Partner with stakeholders across different product domains, infrastructure, and leadership, driving data related technical problems at scale
- Design, Administer, Maintain, monitor and conduct performance tuning efforts for data systems such as AWS Aurora Postgres, Redis/Elasticache, DynamoDB, Oracle, etc
- Design and implement backup and recovery plans
- Ensure Data stores scalability and reliability through proactive analysis and thorough capacity planning
- Work in partnership with stakeholders to understand client integration requirements and business processes with our data stores
- Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of integration solutions through rigorous testing and quality assurance
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including technical specifications, code documentation, and progress reports
- Work with a large amount of autonomy to set the technical direction for scalable projects
- 3 years experience as a database solution architect. This may include, but is not limited to, prior roles in solutions architecture, software engineering, or software development
- Experience with AWS Aurora Postgres, Redis, Enterprise Redis, AWS Elasticache and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB
- Proficiency in Python, data transformation and data migration
- An ability to understand how to organize and consolidate customers' data in various formats and from various source applications
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Experience with design and implementation of high performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging
