A skilled nursing facility in Southern Illinois is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to play a key leadership role in the nursing department. The ADON will support the Director of Nursing (DON) in managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care. This position requires a proactive leader with a strong clinical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to enhancing both patient outcomes and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Nursing Operations Oversight – Assist in overseeing all aspects of nursing operations, ensuring efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care.
  • Staff Leadership & Development – Supervise, mentor, and train nursing staff, providing guidance on clinical procedures, professional growth, and performance evaluations.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance – Ensure adherence to all healthcare regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Patient Care Coordination – Oversee individualized care plans, working closely with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Incident & Risk Management – Investigate patient or staff incidents, implement corrective actions, and assist with audits and inspections to maintain compliance.
  • Scheduling & Resource Management – Assist in scheduling nurses to ensure proper coverage while balancing workloads efficiently.
  • Family & Resident Relations – Serve as a primary point of contact for patient families, addressing concerns and ensuring a positive care experience.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure – Must hold an active Illinois RN license or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Experience – Minimum 3-5 years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  • Leadership & Management Skills – Strong ability to lead, resolve conflicts, and support professional development within a nursing team.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge – Familiarity with CMS regulations, IDPH guidelines, OSHA requirements, and infection control protocols .
  • Clinical Expertise – Strong background in wound care, IV therapy, medication administration, and chronic disease management . Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is preferred.
  • Strong Communication & Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to effectively communicate with staff, residents, and families while making critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility & Dedication – Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends or evenings , as needed.
  • Compensation

  • 100,000 annual salary, based on experience.
