What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) position at WeARE-The Clinic?

DESCRIPTION: WeARE-The Clinic provides inclusive services encompassing sexual health, education, birth control, STI testing and treatment, and outreach initiatives for all, with a focus on serving young people and LGBTQ patients. The RN will collaborate with WeARE staff to ensure high-quality, nonjudgmental, and medically accurate patient care at WeARE-The Clinic. Working closely with colleagues, the RN will room patients, gather and document intake information and report a summary to our medical doctor or provider on staff, facilitate and process lab testing and preparation, dispense medications (by protocol/standing order), deliver patient education, complete documentation for grants and billing, and engage in additional tasks and projects as needed.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE & TIME COMMITMENT:
The RN will be supervised by the Clinic Manager.
- Every M, T, and Th 11:30am - 6pm.
- Ideal start date and training by Monday, November 4th, 2024
- Monthly staff meetings 10:30-11:30am on Tuesdays
- Willingness to provide nursing coverage as needed at outreach clinics elsewhere as availability allows
PAY RANGE: $30 to $32 per hour, depending on training and experience
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS NEEDED:
- RN degree (2-year or 4-year degree, and active MN state license
- Relevant work experience, education, or personal investment in public health, reproductive health, or another relevant field to our work in sexual healthcare will be considered with preference.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Record initial intake information for each patient/report summary to the provider.
- Conduct STI screening, pregnancy tests, urine analysis, and other tests as defined by protocol.
- Facilitate lab testing, including blood draws, urine specimens, etc and ensure labs are processed appropriately (i.e., the lab processor is contacted, and proper documentation is complete).
- Dispense medications as defined by protocol (RN only by protocol/standing order).
- Provide patients with written and oral education regarding risk behaviors, treatment, medications, testing, and other appropriate medical information.
- Monitor on-call texting phone and email, respond to questions, and make appointments.
- Complete written and phone notifications to patients of follow-up due.
- Participate in staff meetings and training.
- Complete other as-needed tasks with direction from the Clinic Manager regarding inventory, outdates, other supply issues, and generally support the operation of our small, community-based non-profit health clinic.
